The Hosapete Block has the regards as the center of political and cultural importance since medieval period. The Block is world famous for the abundant and rich manganese and iron ore. The physical structure of Hospet Block is mixture of hilly area, dry as well as irrigated land. The Thungabadhra River is the main source of agricultural activities. One of the world famous heritage center “Hampi” was the capital of Vijaynagara Kingdom.


 

 

Hosapete Block is situated on the Center of Bellary Block. The Block is situated between 150 16’ latitude and 760 24’  longitude. This Block is surrounded by koppal block on the North, by Haggribamanahhali Block on the west, kudligi and Sandur Block on the South and Siriguppa and Bellary Blocks on the East. It comes under the administrative control of Bellary block and development jurisdiction of Hyderabad Karnataka Development Programme (HKDP), Gulbarga. The normal rainfall is 72 cm. The Important river of the Block is Thungabudra.

                            The block consists of four revenue firkas namely Hospet,Kamlapur,Kampli and Mariyamanahalli.The Block consists of one muncipal corporation(Hospet), two pattan panchayaths namely kampli and kamlapur and also 23 grampanchayats.Our Block has a uniqe bear  sanctuary at hosachinapur at a distance of 25 kms from Hosapete.
